Calm Birth’s evidence-based meditations:

  • help you rest deeply, breathe completely, and heal yourself and others

  • give you (and your partner, if present) time to bond with your baby

  • are perfect for any type of birth

  • aren’t just for pregnancy and birth: they’re something you can carry into every breath of life.

Calm Birth classes are four weeks long, with meetings for one hour per week. You’ll get the chance to develop your own meditation practice with the guidance of a teacher, and to dive deep into your experience.

Our teachers have studied Calm Birth meditation for years and are also birth professionals, usually doulas. They will be a resource for you every step of the way.

Each week includes an introduction to the meditation, practicing together, and strategizing for how to apply it to pregnancy and labor.

Class Structure

Week 1: Womb Breathing

This practice teaches “complete breathing”: a style of breathing that is physically and energetically more effective. It’s the type of breathing that you can carry into every breath of life.

Week 2: Practice of Opening

Learn to rest completely, relaxing every muscle group of your body. This reclining meditation helps with deeper sleep and connects you deeply to your baby’s developing body.

Week 3: Giving & Receiving

You are your own greatest healer. Giving and Receiving is based in lovingkindness, teaching you to heal yourself and others. This is a whole new level of “self-care.”

Week 4: Calm Parents

A meditation practice doesn’t need to end after the baby is born: in fact, it can be essential during parenting! In the last week of class, we review the Calm Parents meditations and discuss how to use them with a baby.
