For Pregnancy

Have you ever watched a baby or child breathe? Look closely and you will see the belly rise on the inhale and fall on the exhale. Intuitively, we are born knowing how to breathe completely.

As we grow older, our breath rises up into our lungs, until we are regularly breathing quick, shallow breaths. This is how humans breathe when panicked. It activates the stress response system and we are ready for fight or flight. When we regularly breathe this way, we are perpetually in a state of stress while not receiving full oxygenation. This stress can negatively impact a growing fetus.

The Calm Birth meditation method brings us back to complete breathing so we can free anxiety and fear. It releases muscle system tension that restricts nervous system function. This promotes prenatal bonding and encourages optimal fetal development.

Meditation increases a person’s ability to cope with the sensations of labor from a place of calm and empowerment. It centers the meditator throughout labor and helps them connect with their baby.

This practice has been known for centuries to have extraordinary healing potential. It strengthens the immune system and supports the release of joy-inducing and pain-relieving hormones. It can be used in any type of birth, from home birth to cesarean.

Our meditations are inclusive of all gender expressions and can be used at any point during pregnancy or birth. It’s never too early or too late to start, and there are no medical risks associated with meditation.

These practices are not only for pregnancy and childbirth but can be carried into every breath of life. Children whose caregivers model healthy coping strategies, self-care practices, and interpersonal connectedness will be more likely to embody these attributes as they grow.
