Cooper William
Parents: Chris and Molly … Birth Date: March 23, 2002 … Birth Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz.

Molly had a physical problem that made intensive medical care necessary during her first childbirth. That resulted in having the birth unnecessarily pushed with pitocin, which in turn led to a numbing epidural block. In spite of giving birth to a healthy baby, Molly regretted not having the birth experience she had envisioned. There was no excess of physical pain, but psychological trauma lingered throughout the years.

For her second pregnancy, four years later, Molly was determined to eliminate medical interventions as much as possible. She had learned meditation as a child, and when her mother recommended the Calm Birth® method in the first trimester, Molly eagerly applied it and was able to have an exceptional birth.

Excerpts From Postnatal Interview With Molly:

Womb Breathing was a big part. I noticed that since I learned how to breathe more deeply, I instantly felt better.

The rhythm in movement with the Calm Birth® practice helped me relax and synchronize with the baby before birth. It helped me reduce anxiety and hold focus…If you’re really doing Womb Breathing it helps you relax, helping everything open and release…The method helped the process move forward more easily.

I brought the cd and cd player with me to the hospital, and during the first few hours I wore the headphones playing the audio guide until things became intense. Then I sat in the rocking chair doing the breathing on my own.

Womb Breathing helped me work with the labor process instead of fighting it. This helped me a lot. I think it would have gone on longer if I didn’t do Womb Breathing. It was noninvasive and empowering.

Calm Birth® was helpful for me and I think it was helpful for Cooper also. He’s a mellow baby. . . I think that’s a benefit from Calm Birth®.

I know that for me there will be long-term benefits, and I can assume that for Cooper there will be too. We’ll see how he develops. I feel I have the Calm Birth® practices inside and I’ll use them forever.
